So, we called carpet store where we purchased it and they dispatched a team who put it all back to normal! But, 'normal'? Obviously there was a big water problem somewhere and it was not plumbing! Next, we dug an eight-foot-deep trench up along one side of the front of the house which clearly exposed a large diagonal crack in the wall of the concrete foundation. We repaired it properly. Problem solved!
In 2014, we purchased a property in Chestnut Hill. Chobee Hoy Agency represented Seller. Shortly after we took possession we committed to fixing up the place, part of which included tearing out the carpet in the basement and replacing it wall-to-wall with expensive New Zealand wool. One day the Seller's Agent asked us, "Why are you replacing the basement carpet? Adding, "The current carpet is near-new" We told her it's likely we measured quality differently than the previous owner. She shook her head, "Well.... okay".
Why do I write here? I believe the Owner should have either fixed this crack before listing the home for sale OTHERWISE this flaw should have been explicitly disclosed! It was NOT! It's clearly incumbent upon a seller and their agent to disclose such a situation to any prospective buyer. I understand that ultimately it's my responsibility to protect my own interests but this scale of a blatant omission is just wrong!
